Aizawl(April 13): Director of American Center Douglas G. Kelly, who visited the Mizoram University (MU) campus today, called for tie-ups between MU and an American University so that there could be an exchange of teachers without incurring high costs.
An estimated 80,000 Indian students are now studying in the US and more students are welcome, Director of American Center Douglas G. Kelly said during the visit.
Indian students, including those from the North-East and especially Mizoram, would be welcome to pursue further studies, Kelly said in an interaction with reporters here.
Kelly, however, regretted that students were hardly aware of the opportunities there despite the United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) in Kolkata announcing offers.
Observing that the faculty members and students were enthusiastic to go to the US for studies, he said priority would be given to those applying for studies in the US.
