AIZAWL, Jul 30 : A joint committee of the Mizoram government teachers (primary, middle and high schools) associations today threatened mass agitation unless the state Cabinet addressed their ' pay anomalies'.
The teachers are demanding higher pay scale at par with other government services.
The demand came after the Mizoram government increased the pay scale of group A, B, C and D employees last year but excluded the government teachers.
''Chief Minister Zoramthanga has promised us that our demand would be met within July. If today's Cabinet meeting fails to take any decision regarding our demands, we will organise statewide strike,'' the teachers informed the press here today.
The teachers also stated that they will ensure that their demands are met with before the state Assembly elections slated for November this year.
