SIAHA, 24 March, 2025, Monday – Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) Budget Session 2025 officially began today at 10:30 AM under the chairmanship of N. Viakhu, Chairman, MADC at Session Hall, MADC Complex Siaha.
The Chairman began the session by reading a verse from the Holy Bible, Romans 5:10-11, and Lalmalsawma Zasai, Member of District Council (MDC) from 15-Amôtlâh constituency, delivered a prayer. Chairman N. Viakhu then appointed Albert TT. Sachu, MDC from 07-Chakhei constituency, and ST. Vanmalsawmliana, MDC from 25-Siaha West-II constituency, as Panel of Chairman for the session.
The four-day Budget Session, scheduled from March 24 to March 27, 2025, will convene daily from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with a recess from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The session will address a total of 3 unstarred questions and 22 starred questions, with 6 starred questions being asked and answered during the morning session today.
In the afternoon, M. Laikaw, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of MADC, delivered the Budget Speech for 2025-2026, outlining the financial plans for the upcoming year. The session concluded for the day with the presentation.
The discussion and passing of the MADC Budget Estimate of Rs. 23,275.49 Lakhs for the 2025-2026 fiscal year is scheduled for March 27, 2025.
